Volunteering Opportunities

Volunteers enhance our services by building support networks for the children, youth and families in our community. From volunteer driver to tutors and mentors, we are looking for volunteers to join our team.

Drive program

This program primarily supports transportation of children to visits with families, appointments and programming in the community.  Occasionally there might be need for weekend drives. The program runs mostly between 9am -7pm and volunteers are expected to commit a minimum of 6 hours/weekly. We reimburse 57 cents a km, and 25$ a month for incremental expenses, such as an increase in insurance premium due to the $2000000 liability required.  

Requirements:

  • Commit to a minimum of 6 hours per week for a minimum of 6 months. 
  • $2,000,000 public liability insurance.
  • Provide a police record check for the vulnerable sector.
  • Provide three references and authorize a Child Welfare Agency record check.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license – Class G.
  • A driver’s abstract showing a clear driving record.
  • A safe vehicle and a valid safety certificate if your vehicle is older than 5 years

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Maintain confidentiality.
  •  Maturity, sensitivity, ability to relate to children/foster parents/staff in a positive manner.
  • Be in good health for driving, lifting and carrying children.
  • Experience working with children and families.
  • Good communication skills.
