Position Description



Regular Full Time Opportunity – Bilingual Position


The Position:

Reporting to the Supervisor of Communications, the Communications & Marketing Advisor will assume the following responsibilities:


Communication activities:

  • Assist in the development of public facing materials to reinforce strategic objective and to strengthen the Society’s brand.
  • Create relevant, engaging copy and video content for each social platform, leveraging best practices and technology. Develop content that drives people to take action.
  • Responsible to capture, organize and manipulate digital imagery and videography
  • Creates and maintains all written content for website, social media, emails, advertisement, public service announcements and other communication related activities.
  • Act as communication lead for event campaigns, working closely with committee members to meet communication priorities and develop effective integrated communication materials.
  • Assists in the planning and coordination of public relations activities including community presentations, special events and speaker’s bureau.
  • Assisting in the development of community partnerships that offer positive media, fundraising and community relations opportunities.
  • Provides support and guidance to staff in other departments during campaigns and recognition weeks, including developing a plan and timeline for execution of events and generating internal and external promotional material.
  • Actively participate in the monitoring for all applicable channels through monthly reports to highlight past activities, outcomes and learnings.


HOURS OF WORK: Regular business hours,Monday to Friday; however, the Communications and Marketing Advisor is expected to be available to work irregular hours which may include evenings and weekends in order to meet the objectives of the Society’s communication strategy.



  • Completion of a post-secondary degree or diploma in marketing, communications (multimedia), public relations, graphic design
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in corporate communications or marketing.
  • Strong interpersonal, engagement and exceptional communication skills.

  • Strong design and production skills for the development and implementation of a variety of multimedia content.

  • Experience in web metrics, google analytics, SEO, with a clear understanding of how these can impact and improve strategy. Understanding of web usability and user experience

  • Thorough understanding of AODA compliance and other accessibility standards, protocols and best practices.

  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and complete deliverables and tactics on time in a fast paced, deadline-oriented environment.

  • Self-driven, initiative and ability to work independently as well as within a collaborative team setting.

  • Proficiency in Adobe Suite (InDesign, Premier Pro, Illustrator, Photoshop), Microsoft Office, WordPress, and Social Media Platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn).

  • Exceptional oral, written and editing skills in English and French, with attention to detail and accuracy.


Position Available:    Immediately


We offer a salary range of $52 296 to $66, 869, commensurate with skills and experience. As well, we offer a comprehensive benefits package and generous leave provisions (such as 4 weeks of vacation).
