No Shortage of Talent at Salut! 2017

The Children’s Aid Foundation of Ottawa could not have asked for a more beautiful evening for their 13th edition of Salut! at Algonquin College’s Restaurant International.

In addition to raising funds, the event serves as a great way to display some exceptional talents and successes of former youth in care.

Alisha Bowie, a former Crown Ward of The Children’s Aid Society of Ottawa, shared her story at Salut!, thanking the Foundation’s Dare to Dream Bursary program which helped fund her studies at Carleton University. Alisha graduated with Honours from Carleton with a B.A. in Human Rights and Sociology.

Alisha was not the only one to share her success story. Former youth in care Alanna Sterling, a multi-talented singer and songwriter, set the mood during the reception with her beautiful melodies. Alanna also contributed two pieces of art to the evening’s silent auction, and gifted a custom painting to Vic Harradine, the renowned wine critic who has now been contributing to Salut! for over a decade. Needless to say, Alanna’s artistic abilities were on full display.

This year’s event raised an impressive $23,000 and as the evening went on, it became increasingly clear that these funds have a veritable impact in the lives of children and youth.
